Amazon has introduced the Echo Show 16, a 16-inch smart display that the company positions as a showcase for its Alexa+ assistant. The device was announced on October 28, 2026, as part of a wider refresh of Echo hardware.

What Alexa+ adds on screen

The most notable changes are in how the assistant presents information. Amazon says Alexa+ conversations on the Echo Show 16 are shown with visuals such as charts, videos and calendar entries rather than a running transcript. Exchanges are also saved as Cards, which users can browse in a Card Gallery, pin to the screen, and open later in the Alexa app or on Alexa.com. According to Amazon, the assistant can also create Cards on its own initiative, for example to gather plans for a weekend trip.

The second addition is the Alexa Home Map, an interactive 3D view of the home and property that places connected devices such as lights, locks, thermostats and cameras. It is reached from the Smart Home screen style, one of three layouts alongside Family Organizer and Photos. Amazon notes that some features require Alexa+, which it says is included with a Prime membership; it does not spell out which Echo Show 16 functions depend on it.

The hardware

The display has full HD resolution and, according to Amazon, about 10% more viewing area than the Echo Show 15 in a frame nearly 40% thinner. An optional Nanomatte screen is designed to cut glare by more than 90%. Amazon also cites 20% more computing power, a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera with auto-framing and, for the first time on an Echo Show, night vision for remote Live View. Fire TV is built in, and the device can hang on a wall or stand on a counter with separately sold stands. A physical button turns off the microphones and camera.

Price and open questions

The Echo Show 16 costs $499.99, or $569.99 with the Nanomatte display, and Amazon is offering $100 off during preorders. Shipping is planned for later this year without a firm date. Amazon's announcement gives US dollar prices and links to Amazon.com but does not say whether or when the device will reach other countries. Claims about glare reduction and performance come from Amazon and have not been independently tested.
