BEST FOR
- Delegating coding tasks to agents inside the editor
- Running cloud agents in parallel on a codebase
- AI code review on pull requests
What it does
Cursor, made by Anysphere, is a code editor designed around AI agents: developers describe a task and an agent writes or changes the code, which they then review. Beyond the desktop editor, agents can run from a command-line tool, in the browser and as cloud agents that work in parallel on their own machines to build and test changes. Cursor also connects to Slack and GitHub pull requests. Users can pick models from several providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and SpaceXAI, as well as Cursor's own. Desktop downloads are offered for macOS, Windows and Linux. In a blog post dated 14 August 2026, Cursor said it had been acquired by SpaceX, and the product now shares plans and features with Grok.
Pricing and plans
Every tier includes a pool of AI usage shared between Cursor and Grok, with allowances that refresh weekly and optional top-ups. The Free plan ($0/month) offers limited agent and chat requests. Plus costs $8/month but only gives access to Grok models. Premium ($30/month) has four times the Plus usage and adds cloud agents and automations, code hosting, AI code reviews and third-party models billed at API list price. Super ($100/month) and Ultra ($200/month) raise usage further. For organisations, Teams starts at $30 per user per month with admin tools, SSO and usage analytics, and Enterprise is priced on request. Prices exclude taxes; third-party model usage is billed separately.
Strengths and limits
Cursor focuses on agent-driven development, with parallel cloud agents and integrations into the tools teams already use. Its plan structure has changed significantly since the SpaceX acquisition: the cheapest paid plan is limited to Grok models, plans bundle features unrelated to coding (Grok chat, social posting tools), and access to models from other vendors on Premium and above is billed on top of the subscription at list price. Buyers should check the current pricing page and the data-use section of its FAQ before choosing a plan.
