THE ESSENTIALS IN 30 SECONDS
- Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash generates and edits videos of 3 to 15 seconds, up from a 10-second maximum in version 1.1.
- Google prices 720p output at $0.07 per second, 30% below Omni 1.1 Flash; drafts at 360p or 720p can be upscaled to 1080p or 4K.
- The model is generally available in the Gemini API and Google Cloud, and is coming to Flow, Google Vids, Google Ads and the Gemini app, where 15-second clips go to AI Ultra subscribers.
Google DeepMind released Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash on November 5, an update to its video generation and editing model aimed at producing clips quickly and in volume. The company presents it as faster and cheaper than Omni 1.1 Flash, with longer output and steadier results across a clip.
What changes
The headline change is length. The model now creates videos natively of up to 15 seconds, compared with 10 seconds before, and users can set the duration in one-second steps from 3 to 15 seconds. Google recommends drafting at 360p or 720p to iterate faster, then upscaling the chosen version to 1080p or 4K.
Inputs can include reference images of a character, product or style, short motion clips of up to three seconds, and audio cues; the Cloud blog says audio references are limited to allowlisted customers. Google says the update follows references more closely, so that faces, clothing, packaging text and brand colours stay consistent across camera angles, with less drift or morphing from the first frame to the last. It also cites fewer unwanted jump cuts in camera moves, more natural dialogue with clearer lip-sync and support for several distinct speakers.
Editing is conversational: users can ask in several turns to swap a product or background, change lighting or weather, or switch aspect ratio without regenerating the whole clip. Google acknowledges that fast sports action, rapid script changes and complex physics remain works in progress, and it published no quantitative benchmarks, only side-by-side examples.
Price and availability
In the Gemini API and on Google Cloud, the model is generally available at $0.07 per second of 720p video, which Google says is 30% less than Omni 1.1 Flash. The Cloud post says savings at other resolutions are similar but does not list those prices.
The model is also coming to Google's own products: Flow, Google Ads and Google Vids, where 15-second clips are offered at no extra cost to Google account and Workspace users. In the Gemini app, 15-second clips are rolling out to AI Ultra subscribers. Gemini for business support is listed as coming soon.
Outputs carry an invisible SynthID watermark to identify them as AI-generated. Google did not detail other safeguards or any regional restrictions.
