BEST FOR
- Note-taking in back-to-back video calls
- Drafting follow-up emails after meetings
- Searching and chatting across past meetings
What it does
Granola is a meeting notepad. Instead of sending a bot into the call, it captures the audio playing on your computer and transcribes it in the background, so other participants do not see an extra attendee. You can jot rough notes during the meeting; afterwards Granola produces structured notes, action items and follow-ups, and an AI chat answers questions about one meeting or many. For external meetings it can prepare a short brief beforehand from calendar context. There are desktop apps for macOS and Windows, plus iPhone and Android apps for recording in-person conversations; the pricing page also mentions an Apple Watch app.
Pricing and plans
Granola's pricing page lists three plans, shown per user per month in dollars without annual pricing. Basic is free and includes AI notes, AI chat, shared folders, templates and a Slack integration, but keeps only 30 days of meeting history. Business costs $14 per user per month and removes that history limit, adding pre-meeting briefs, follow-up emails, integrations with tools such as Notion, Zapier and HubSpot, API access, model selection in chat and centralised billing. Enterprise costs $35 per user per month and adds SSO, SCIM provisioning, HIPAA-compliant workspaces, usage analytics, admin controls and an audit API. Prices may vary by region and tax.
Strengths and limits
The bot-free approach keeps calls uncluttered and also works for meetings on any video platform that plays through the computer. Granola says audio is deleted after transcription, lists SOC 2 Type II compliance and lets each user opt out of model training on every plan; workspace-wide opt-out is an Enterprise control. Recording other people still requires consent under local law, which the user must handle. The main limit of the free plan is the 30-day history window, and the pricing page does not list a browser app for capturing meetings.
