BEST FOR
- Team wikis and project documentation
- Asking AI questions about workspace content
- Bot-free meeting notes and summaries
What it does
Notion is a workspace where pages, wikis, task lists and databases live side by side. Notion AI is built into it. The Notion Agent can carry out multi-step work using the workspace, connected apps and the web, including creating and editing pages and databases. Custom Agents run on a schedule or trigger for recurring team chores, such as answering questions in Slack or posting project updates. AI Meeting Notes records meetings without a bot joining the call and produces summaries and follow-ups (labelled beta). Enterprise Search, also in beta, looks across connected tools such as Slack, Google Drive and GitHub. Smaller features include AI blocks for drafting, database autofill and help writing formulas. Notion says users can switch models or providers, but its AI page does not name them.
Pricing and plans
Notion lists four tiers, priced per member per month in US dollars. Free costs nothing; Plus is $10 and Business is $20 when billed monthly, and Enterprise is quoted on request. Yearly billing saves up to 20%, according to the pricing page. The important detail for AI use is that Free and Plus only include a limited trial of Notion AI; the Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search come with Business. On Business, each seat receives a monthly allowance of credits (1,500 Standard and 500 Select). Custom Agents are free to try, then cost $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits. Prices may vary with region and tax.
Strengths and limits
Notion's strength is keeping documents, structured data and AI in one place, with apps for the web, macOS, Windows, iOS and Android; there is no Linux app listed. Limits are mostly tied to plan level: the Free plan caps file uploads at 5 MB and page history at seven days, and multi-member Free workspaces have a block limit. AI usage runs on credits, and Notion says it may temporarily reduce access under its fair-use rules. On Free, Plus and Business, data is retained by the AI model providers for 30 days; zero retention is reserved for Enterprise.
